Why Consider Honeymoon Trends?
Your honeymoon is one part of your wedding celebration where you don’t have to worry too much about what anyone else thinks. Why? Well, your honeymoon trip is just for the two of you!
Whisking away together after you get married gives you a chance to enjoy one another’s company as new spouses. But then you need to decide where to go and what to do. Those are big questions!
Get inspired by what other couples are doing by building off of these honeymoon trends. These are all once-in-a-lifetime trips, so even if you can’t go right away, aim to go on a big anniversary.
4 Honeymoon Trends to Inspire Your Trip
1. Go on an African safari.
If you want a honeymoon that is definitely a little different from the norm, then why not consider an African safari? This wildlife and wilderness experience offers you the opportunity to make memories that will last a lifetime.
It can definitely be considered a fun and interesting way to spend your first few days as newlyweds. Many of these kinds of holidays are planned and scheduled by companies, meaning you can pick and choose the excursions that will interest you most.
Some African safari services even offer unique accommodation experiences, from glamping tents to high tree top houses. If you want a honeymoon to remember, a safari is the way to go.
2. Explore the culture of Australia.
The old saying goes, “first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby.” If you are planning on starting a family soon, heading off on a big trip after your special day is a must. Take a trip to Australia while you can — before you have to worry about little ones in tow.
Going far away to the country of Australia allows you to experience many landmark sites. Explore the culture in Sydney, marvel at the beautiful scenery in Melbourne, and consider snorkeling in The Great Barrier Reef.
There is so much to this vast place that you are literally spoiled for choice on where to go and what to see. No matter what you and your partner like to do, you can find it in Australia.
3. Schedule a US Road Trip.
If you love the idea of a unique honeymoon, then a road trip across America could be the perfect thing for you. You might want to plan your trip in advance so you visit the states and cities you want.
Many people consider places like Las Vegas, New York City, Nashville, and Los Angeles high on their hit list of places to see. Of course, the middle of the country is really underrated, too.
Take a popular route, or make your own way across the east and west, north and south, or any direction you choose.
4. Backpack through Asia.
If you love the outdoors, backpacking is a great way to immerse yourself in the beauty of a country. You might want to try something a little new and go on an adventure in Asia!
What could be more exciting than jumping on a plane with just your partner and backpack for company? No wonder it’s quickly become a honeymoon trend!
Backpacking is seen as something many students do during a GAP year. However, more and more people are considering it later in life. It’s an experience not to be missed. While you’re in Asia, you can explore amazing cities like Shanghai, Beijing, or Kathmandu or simply enjoy the beautiful coastlines.

PilarI think making a safari in Africa is a great choice for Honey Moon. I had my first safari experience, a year ago in Tanzania in the Tarangire national park and it was an unforgettable experience, even if I did it alone. Sleeping in the African Savannah must be a great experience to do with your brand new husband or wife. Backpacking Asia seems also like a great choice. A lot of romantic temples and landscapes. Great suggestions for a dream like honey moon.
ReneeThis is a great list of inspiration for newlyweds. In fact, we did a US Road Trip for our honeymoon! There was nothing better than slowly making your way from state to state staying at charming BnBs in small towns.
Linda (LD Holland)We may not be planning a honeymoon. But these are some great options for a great romantic getaway. I might not have thought of a safari might not be on my list. But the excitement is definitely something I would want to share. I am sure a US road trip would have many romantic stops along the way.
Maria VelosoThis is a fun activity for both of you and your dog to enjoy together. Most of the top wineries in NOTL appear to be fascinating places to explore. I’m looking forward to sampling Stratus Vineyards’ signature wines!
ClariceThese are beautiful ideas. I love the idea of backpacking through Asia. There is so much to see and do. After all, Singapore is on of my favorite destinations because of the food and local vibe!
UmikoThese are cool trends, even for people like me who can use this ideas for our second honeymoon. My first choice will be the safari since none of us been there before. We did lots of road trips in the U.S., so going to Australia or backpacking in Asia will be our next choice. We’ve been there, but before we even knew each other. So, it will be fun and interesting!
