Whether you are heading off to Europe, the Virgin Islands, or a short weekend trip to Yellowstone National Park, you will still need to pack a bag for your honeymoon. Here are some things to bring on vacation that you may be missing!
While we do love a good vacation, the worst part of a vacation is the packing. So to help you better prepare for how you are going to stuff that prime real estate in your bag, we’ve got answers!
Here are a few things to bring on vacation that you might not have thought to pack.
7 Things to Bring on Vacation or Honeymoon
Hardcover Books
Many folks prefer reading on a tablet or listening to their books through an audiobook service. If you like to read, you might not think to bring a hardback book with you on your next trip.
However, you may be headed on a romantic trip to the beach or somewhere that could ruin that device. Therefore, you might want to bring a backup option just in case.
Reusable Bag
A reusable bag is going to work great for picking up snacks or souvenirs on your trip. Plus, it can even serve as a grocery bag if you need it.
Keeping a small bag handy will ensure you have a way to store your treasures. You could also use it as a day bag for the beach if you need to.
First Aid Kit
A commonly forgotten item is the first aid kit. However, you can fall, scrape your knee, or do any number of things, no matter where you are.
So keep a travel-sized kit for those times when you might need to fight a headache or cover up a small cut on your trip. Even if you just pack bandaids and first aid cream, that’s a good start.
Garbage Bags
This might feel like an odd item to put in your suitcase, but it will come in handy. For example, this bag can hold a wet bathing suit or dirty clothes.
It even serves to wrap up breakable souvenirs to take back home with you.
Empty Water Bottle
Staying hydrated is important. However, you can’t bring most liquids through airport security. Don’t get stranded in a place having to choose overpriced drinks at the airport.
Having an empty bottle will allow you to easily take advantage of public water fountains to stay hydrated. Doing so will save you both money and the hassle of waiting in line for water. Plus, it’s a sustainable option!
International Credit Card
If you plan on traveling outside the country, make sure you find a credit card that doesn’t have any foreign transaction fees.
Unless you are doing a vacation entirely in cash, you will probably have to swipe your card often. So make sure you aren’t racking up fees for your purchases. This is one of those things to bring on vacation that many folks don’t think about taking.
Light Jacket
Traveling during the peak heat of summer or during a heatwave? Still, ensure you bring a jacket with you, just in case.
Sometimes it will get cold at night. You could also be stuck on a chilly plane. Even a low-temperature restaurant will make you wish you had a jacket handy.

JoannaI always forget to bring a book with me when I go on a beach holiday, and always regret it. It’s nice to be able to read whilst you are sunbathing by the pool or on the beach. On the past couple of trips I also forgot my water bottle at home. That was quite expensive, as bottled water in airports costs a lot.
AgnesIt is a very intriguing and exciting list. I happened to pack a book with a thick cover a few times. I wouldn’t say I like using a reader. I always pack the First Aid Kit, but luckily I never had to use it. But I always carry it in my backpack during every trip. I always pack Garbage Bags; I agree they are handy, especially during heavy rainstorms.
Maria VelosoFor every traveler, this list is quite helpful. I do believe, yes. It is crucial to pack empty bottles of water. Two items on this list that I do not forget while traveling are a light jacket and hardcover books. Reusable shopping bags and first aid kits will definitely be on my list of essentials for my upcoming vacation.
NataschaAcutally I do take all this things with me on a journey. Most time I take a paperback in addition to my kindle. But often I want to go as light-weight as possible. I would not take a first aid kid on a city trip though. I usually have a band-aid in my bag.
ClariceThis is such a helpful list. I agree with you. Bringing books is a must during a vacation. I also make sure to bring a light jacket every time we travel. Thank you for sharing this.
Linda (LD Holland)I am the worst packer and it seems that every trip I get worse. So I was a bit afraid to read a post that might add more things to my packing. I must admit we don’t carry far enough first aid stuff and have had more than once instance where we regretted it. We do pack small plastic bags and often have wished for a large garbage bag. A few more things for our next pack!
Ossama AlnuwaiserSuch amazing options, I would honestly prefer to bring a hard copy when it comes to reading. I do not like reading on tablets, so I also make sure that I carry a book with me. having a portable charger should come in handy for emergency use only. I think you should add that.
BhushavaliI always carry tote bags on trips or compact extra mini-backpack. Always useful. Earlier I didn’t use to carry first-aid kit but ever since I became a mom, while traveling with my kiddo, first-aid kit is essential. That’s a well thought of list indeed!
nicoleGreat list. Empty water bottle is an absolute must for me. Being able to refil and save on waste in airports, hotels etc. I definitely prefer handback books over digital. It’s just so much easier to switch off from other digital distractions and nice not worrying about the battery.
