Whether a pair of sunglasses or sunscreen, we don’t want you to forget any of the essentials for your trip! Here is how to pack for a beach honeymoon and 13 things you need to take.
How to Pack for a Beach Honeymoon
1. Purchase a cute, new swimsuit.
Unless it storms and rains your entire honeymoon, you will likely be out having fun in the sun. Make sure to pack an adorable swimsuit to soak up the sun.
2. Pack everything in a beach bag.
Use a practical tote to store your coverup, sunscreen, a good book, and anything else you plan to take with you to the beach. You can also use it as a day bag if you have something versatile.
3. Have an absorbent beach towel.
Some resorts give their guests towels, but it’s better to be safe and bring your own. Some thin beach towels can double as sarongs and coverups for extra convenience.
4. Look fresh by wearing waterproof makeup.
Whether you’re attending beach parties or want to look cute while soaking up the sun, waterproof makeup is your friend. It won’t run and will wear better in the heat.
5. Protect your hair and face with a beach hat.
Help protect your face from the sun and complete your stylish beach look with a sun hat. You can take it on the beach to help shield you from the sun’s rays or create a fun and casual look on the town.
6. Prep for the unexpected with rain gear.
Many sunny destinations get hit with afternoon showers. Therefore, make sure you have umbrellas and even a raincoat handy, so you don’t get caught in the rain.
7. Wear beach shoes while traveling.
The sand is hot and blistered feet aren’t going to make for a fun honeymoon. Many summer shoes — think slides and sandals — are perfect for traveling, too.
8. Take a multi-purpose coverup.
Whether grabbing a drink at the pool or walking the beach, ensure you have a coverup for the journey to and from your room. It can also double as a cardigan to keep you warm or a dress on a night out!
9. Take trekking shoes for exploring.
While you might have plans of just soaking up the sun on the beach, make sure you pack a pair of shoes for adventuring. These could be for seeing the sights of the city, hiking, or anything else you have planned.
10. Plan to wear layers.
The idea of covering up might not be everyone’s cup of tea on a beach vacation. However, a jacket or shawl can keep you warm when the temperature suddenly drops at night. The ocean also tends to get windy in the evenings, and it’s best to plan for chilly temperatures.
11. Protect your eyes with sunglasses.
It will be bright outside so make sure you pack a pair of sunnies! The resort’s sunglasses will be overpriced if you forget yours at home.
12. Take sunscreen and aloe vera, just in case.
Don’t let a slight sunburn ruin your trip! Make sure to pack plenty of sunscreen and aloe vera if you get burned.
13. Keep tech safe with a waterproof pouch.
You’ll need a pouch to hold your wet bathing suit if you have to travel to the beach or change without going to your room. You can also use it to hold your phone and other things you don’t want to get wet.

LeahWhat a beautiful post! Beach destinations make the best honeymoons, in my opinion. 🙂 We are heading off to Hawaii again soon for our anniversary, so your tips were a great reminder of what to prioritize. Waterproof makeup (at least mascara) is always a must for me, and thin Turkish towels have been our go-to since we first discovered them 5 years ago. Your post has me dreaming of our vacation, and I am counting down the days!
JenniferAh! Turkish towels are so wonderful. I had a quick-drying beach towel, but I just left it in Guatemala by accident as it fell off of our line after a rainstorm. I need to get another one! Have fun on your trip!!
PilarThis is such a useful post. There is not better place than a tropical beach for honeymoon. I had never thought of wearing waterproof make up to the beach or I did not even know it existed, but after reading a post I just want to give it a try and look good at the beach. Thanks:-)
JanGreat tips to pack for a beach honeymoon! I particularly like the tips about packing the phone in a waterproof bag, sunglasses to protect the eyes and the good beach hat. Yes, waterproof make up is must as this is important for a beach party. Love that multi-purpose cover up! 🙂
NataschaGreat tips for a beach honeymoon! I guess buying a new (and nice) swimsuit would be on top of my list. Taking some better shoes for exploring the area is good too. You might not want to spend every day on the beach.
JoannaTaking a multi-purpose travel cover up is such a great idea. During my trip to Tanzania I bought a lovely sarong which I used there as a cover up for the beach in Zanzibar. After coming back from that trip, I never left on a beach holiday without it. It takes so little space but it’s so versatile, especially when you have to move from the pool to your room but don’t want to get your clothes wet. Just put the cover-up on over the bathing suit and you can cross the public areas of the hotel without any issues.
Subhashish RoyWe would be visiting Greece shortly and plan to spend a lot of time relaxing on the beaches. Therefore these tips are really going to be useful. Taking note of all the suggestions from you so that we are prepared. We really need to buy some nice beach hats for the two of us.
ClariceThis is so helpful. Packing for a honeymoon can be overwhelming with everything that is happening at the wedding. So, thank you for sharing this. 🙂
I agree with you that bringing a multi-purpose coverup is a must. Aloe vera is also one thing that we should bring in case of emergencies.
BhushavaliThat’s an excellent list. A cute swimsuit is definitely a must. I recently purchased a wide rimmed straw hat and I’m cursing myself that I didn’t buy one already! It’s so practical and useful! Coverups are also useful to do a quick change if the beach has no changing rooms! Waterproof pouches are absolute necessity at the beach.
