  1. We visited Santa Claus, Indiana, last year, but it was during Thanksgiving Break.  Itโ€™s fun to see Santa all over town. Weโ€™ve been to Alexandria, VA, a few years back and I wanted to go back. But I really want to visit Leavenworth. Every year my friend did a great job to make me envy with his pictures from there.

  2. This post is so awesome and itโ€™s even better that one I these places is actually in my home state! I think it would be a fun thing to do to go on like a โ€˜holiday road-tripโ€™ to a Christmas destination; like traveling to a real life North Pole! Thank you for sharing this with us!

  3. Iโ€™ve been to Frankenmuth and it is delightful. Last year we went to the Dickens Festival in Skaneateles, NY. Thereโ€™s also Seneca Falls, which was inspiration for Its a Wonderful Life.

  4. These 12 Christmas towns are truly amazing each having their unique way of celebrating Christmas. Visiting Santa’s candy castle and participating in a hot chocolate and fire popcorn challenge is excellent idea. Also Christmas lighting in lanterns is so cool and enjoying the Holiday boat ride to watch the Christmas lights and watching holiday concerts and shopping in Christ Kindle market is a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas.

  5. I wish I had found your post earlier. We already made our plans, and we go to Wisconsin Dells. But I really love your list, I gonna save it for later.

  6. Lately, I have been watching so many movies on Christmas on Netflix. And then I read this starry post! I feel like flying to see the lantern-lit roads and the ice sculputres. Festivals turn cities into brighter and happier spaces. I would certainly like to experience the Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade and The Districtโ€™s Holiday Boat Parade..

  7. Amazing festive vibes in these towns! I wonder what it would be like to boat on cold days, but the possible photo ops makes me want to do it. The opportunity to dine with Mr. and Mrs. Claus at Zehnderโ€™s Restaurant sounds so good. Walking on lantern lit roads sounds so much like the time we have here during Diwali.

  8. Your list of 12 magical Christmas towns in America is very inspiring. I visited a few of them. My favorites are the North Pole in Alaska, Santa Fe in New Mexico, and Aspen, Colorado. All are like from a fairytale. On my top bucket is Santa Claus, Indiana, as the town’s name is so exciting! I would also like to visit Bavarian-inspired Leavenworth in Washington.

  9. We often stay close to home on the holiday season.  But these great American towns might make the Christmas season a little extra special.  We drove through Leavenworth in the summer but have to agree that Bavarian backdrop would be magical.  And a visit to the North Pole might bring the kid out in me.  Some great choices for Christmas.

  10. Christmas is always special and even here many cities in India. Have always been fascinated by lights and no better occasion than this. If I had to pick three out of your list, it would be Leavenworth to witness the million Christmas lights. Next would certainly be Freeport, Maine and then College Station for the sheer views in Santas Wonderland.

  11. I see so many articles promoting European Christmas markets, and while I’m sure they are lovely, I couldn’t agree more that there are plenty of beautiful Christmas towns in the US! I can personally speak to the beauty of Stockbridge Mass over the holidays. Not only is it famous for the movie reference, but the scene of Norman Rockwell’s charming painting “Main Street at Christmas.” It’s definitely worth stopping into the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge to see the original painting while you’re there!

  12. Wow! These are beautiful festive places and we’d love to visit them. We’re actually planning to go to Maine. Hope to meet the stealth elf and we might get lucky to get a gift card.  LOL
