Trying to find creative inspiration while planning your wedding day can prove difficult if you’re feeling in a rut. Our five tips will have your mind bursting with ideas!
We all go through it. Being stumped. Having a mental block. And at a time when you are supposed to be creative, that cannot be easy! After all, you’re in the middle of planning a wedding. Sometimes all of the “to-dos” can lead to overwhelm and leave you feeling uninspired.
Believe it or not, creative inspiration is everywhere, so here are a few suggestions to get your mind in gear.
5 Tips to Find Creative Inspiration for Weddings
1. Visit an unusual place for inspiration.
Do you love art? Do the colors in nature make you happy? Maybe you’re a style guru. Does your local, curated grocery store set your soul aflame? Don’t be afraid to search for insight in unusual places that are stocked with goodies.
Whether you find a spark in the subject matter of a sculpture, the pattern of a blouse, or the flavor of locally-made ice cream, you are sure to get those creative juices flowing. Use some of those as a starting point for your wedding color palette, bouquet, or catering menu.

2. Gain creative inspiration by perusing old ideas.
Remember that abstract art you painted years ago? Have you discovered something new about the subject matter you captured on canvas since then? Could you add more to give it an updated spin-off feel?
Reinventing the wheel is not always necessary, and – who knows? There may be an idea hiding in your very own archives of creative work or past experiences.

3. Take a break to inspire creativity.
Whether you take a walk in the park, visit a quaint bookstore, or test out that new Pilates studio, taking a bit of time for yourself can be the best way to get ideas to flow.
Sometimes, by not thinking about being creative, inspiring topics are free to pop into a relaxed, refreshed brain. You may be in the middle of the woods and have the best wedding favor ideas come right into your head.

4. Scour the work of creatives.
Be careful here, as I’m not talking about copying or stealing ideas. Do you enjoy style? Take a fashion tip from a creative and make it your own.
Enjoy cooking? Find a great recipe online, make it, and report on how much your family loved it. Maybe your caterer can include those elements in your wedding. Bounce off another creative’s idea to find a starting point for your own take on an idea.

5. Take a trip down memory lane.
Scour old albums or go through your phone (hello, 2000 pictures!) to jog your memory. Sometimes an idea hit,s and we forget to write it down. Before we know it, we remember that we had an idea, but don’t recall what it was!
Scrolling through images – whether family heirlooms or fresh ones from this week – may give you the “a-ha” moment you are longing for.
