Steps to Spring Clean Your Skincare Routine

1. Get plenty of sleep.

Itโ€™s no secret that planning a wedding is stressful. Stress can lead to restlessness, which inhibits sleep, and that can come through in our skin in the form of wrinkles and lack of luster. As a result, make sure you are getting plenty of sleep to feel and look refreshed each day.

2. Take off your makeup.

Working and wedding planning at the same time can leave you tired (see point #1!), but be sure to remove your makeup at night. Not only can makeup clog pores, but giving your skin a cleaning followed up by moisturizing night products will keep your face supple.

3. Practice conscious eating.

What you put in your body is just as important as what you put on it! Eating cleaner and more consciously can give your body the building blocks it needs to keep skin glowing and youthful.

4. Keep the surface fresh.

While most brides look for something old to have with them on their wedding day, you do not want old skin. Flawless skin is just below the surface. Exfoliate your skin to brighten and reduce fine lines. As a precaution, be sure to test out your exfoliant in the months and weeks prior to your wedding day.

5. Know the skin you’re in.

One important thing to remember is that skin is not one size fits all. Some people have oily skin, some combination, some dry, and so on. Just as skin is not the same for everyone, neither are skincare products. Make sure you are using the products that are appropriate for you.

6. Aim for consistency.

Like any new routine you start, consistency is key. Sticking to a skincare routine will yield the results you are looking for and allow your skin to receive the full benefits of the skincare products. It’s an important area to consider as you spring clean your skin!

7. Update your products regularly.

Be sure to keep track of when your products expire. This includes both makeup and skincare! Many of us are guilty of keeping beauty supplies for years, and tossing some may be in order as you spring clean your home.

While you are at it, inventory your stash of products. Using expired products can cause breakouts, and the lotions and makeup may not work as it was originally intended. It’s also a fabulous time to clean your brushes to give them a fresh start, too!
