My Background

My history goes well before covering Virginia weddings. I’m a former science teacher turned writer turned media guru. What I do is what I love. I enjoy inspiring women and helping to make life easier. Plus, I have a passion for local businesses.

My mom and dad both owned their own businesses (antiques shop and CPA firm, respectively), so entrepreneurial-ship is in my blood! I cherish being able to combine my love for people with my belief in supporting our neighbors. 

Discovering Virginia Weddings

I created Hill City Bride in 2010 (wow, time flies!) to be a niche Virginia wedding blog. It serves as a resource for Virginia weddings while providing local vendors a venue in which to showcase their work and services.

Freelance Wedding Writer

I also am a freelance writer. My bylines in the travel sector are on Lonely Planet, Conde Nast Traveler, TripSavvy, and Conde Nast Traveler. I’ve also written about weddings for Zola, Joy, and Overnight Flowers. I love writing about all things travel and Virginia weddings!

My Family

I am a wife and mother of three who has lived in the Lynchburg Virginia area for over 25 years. Vintage things (did you read that my mom owned an antique shop?), kittens, and thrifting all bring me great joy. I also adore my three kids and their growing families. So fun! I really relish date nights with my husband—often.

My Passion for Virginia Brides

My zest for life and love for people inspired me to start a resource. I wanted to bring brides-to-be and quality vendors together in an easy, modern way. This has been accomplished through a fun, upscale resource and idea wedding blog.

What started out as a business for me, has turned into so much more. Happy planning for your own Virginia wedding!
