Getting engaged is exciting, right? You know you want to get married, but the question of “when” adds a fun element to the engagement and wedding proposal process. This couple has such a fun story. Big kudos to the groom-to-be for doing such a wonderful job of planning! I just love all of the emotion in these images of how he asked her to marry him. Adorable!
Here is the story of their surprise wedding proposal!
Natalie and Rand met when they lived in the same neighborhood during middle school. They quickly became friends. After four years Rand got up the courage to ask Natalie on their first date. The rest is literally history! They’ve been in love ever since (although it took Natalie longer than Rand to come to that realization). The couple graduated from LU in the spring of 2017 and plan on getting married in the late spring of 2018.
The day of Rand’s wedding proposal was centered around the birthday of the couple’s friend. “The day was planned entirely with birthday celebrations for my friend, Carrie. My other friend, Christina, and I took her to get her favorite breakfast, went to get our nails done, and went shopping. Our final stop was going to be at Cole Mountain because she wanted to take pictures with us alongside the beautiful scenery in the background,” reminisced Natalie.
The ladies got dressed and ready for their photo session. When they arrived at the top of the mountain, there was Rand standing off in the distance. Natalie recalled, “He had pictures hung, tiki torches lit, and ‘In Case You Didn’t Know’ playing in the background.” How romantic! Rand walked to Natalie and started to explain how he loved her and how he could not live without her.
And then came the wedding proposal!
“He talked for a long time, and I honestly do not remember everything that he said because I was so surprised and shocked. My exact words the entire time were, ‘I think I’m going to throw up,'” Natalie said. It was then that Rand got down on one knee and proposed. The middle diamond in the engagement ring belonged to Rand’s great-great grandmother.
Natalie continued, “Of course, I said yes, and he told me to turn around. My sister, her husband, my best friend from home, Jordan, and the photographer, were all standing there along with my friends…everyone was crying while we took pictures and simply just lived in that perfect moment.” And it’s all documented because Rand knew how much Natalie loves pictures. So smart!
All in all, Natalie was surprised and excited. Despite being a bit nervous, Rand pulled off a surprise wedding proposal without a hitch! Natalie proclaimed, “I still wake up every morning thanking the Lord because I am so blessed to be able to, now, call this amazing man my fiancé…he is definitely the best decision that I have ever made!”
