When it comes to weddings, one of the most elegant palettes is black and white. Add in a bit of green through florals, and it’s a palette that can be earthy or formal. There is a lot to be said about a monochromatic wedding! This one is a styled shoot, yet the couple – a real-life couple – have overcome a lot. Their love for each other is evident throughout the photos, and wait until you hear their story!
Monochromatic Wedding Styled Shoot
The Love Story (from the bride, Brittany)
Our love story started when I was reunited with my high school crush, Jason. After Jason completed his term as an Infantry, US Marine and returned home to Virginia we re-established a friendship and eventually began dating. We dated for years, bought a house together, and welcomed our first baby boy, Stillman, into the world – life just seemed too busy to plan a big wedding.
At the last minute, we decided to tag along on a family vacation to Tennessee and we realized it would be the perfect time to get married! In two short weeks, we planned a small ceremony where we were surrounded by our closest friends and family. As a young couple, new parents, and business owners, we were on a very tight wedding budget
…we skipped out on the flowers and a photographer.
It may not have been traditional, but it couldn’t have been more perfect for us at that time. After all, we already had everything we needed and were about to have even more – a few days after confirming our wedding plans, we received the exciting news that we were expecting baby number two (Langston).
Two and a half years later, our lives were feeling like a whirlwind, passing by all too fast.
I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in April of 2018…
and underwent a total thyroidectomy and then 3 months of intensive holistic healing. In September of 2018, I learned that I was cancer-free! Feeling happy to be healthy, I wanted to surprise Jason and celebrate, re-affirm our life together, and kind of press pause on our busy lives.
And then, cue our fairy godmothers… {who} gave us the chance to participate in a mock wedding photo shoot just days after getting good news from my doctor, and this was the perfect way to surprise Jason. The photo shoot ended up being an opportunity of a lifetime in more ways than one. Words simply cannot describe how happy it made us feel to relive our wedding day and…we are able to relive that day again and again with the pictures to savor for eternity.
What a sweet story!
And now Jason and Brittany have a lovely monochromatic wedding complete with photos (and flowers!) to remember everything by. Take a peek at this lovely session.
