How to Get a White Smile at Home for Your Wedding

When it comes to weddings, white is the first color people think of. After all, little girls dream of the day where they will wear white and walk down the aisle. And – for brides and grooms alike – having white teeth to match is a huge plus. Going to the dentist to whiten teeth can be difficult to schedule when there are so many appointments already when you are planning a wedding, so here is how to get a white smile at home. And – hint – there is a GIVEAWAY entry at the end for your own way to whiten. Yay!

This post is in collaboration with Smile Brilliant, who wishes you a white wedding day in all sorts of ways!

How to Get a White Smile at Home

Of course, I’m going to chat about whitening your teeth, but whitening alone doesn’t do the job. After all, once you do whiten, you want to keep those pearly whites looking…well, white. Here are some tips on how.

Be Careful of What You Consume

Ah! This is super hard, right? I mean, I start every – and I mean every – day with a cup or two (or 3!) of coffee, but it has staining power. Other culprits are red wine, tomato sauce, and colorful fruits, such as berries. Basically, the rule is that if it would stain a white shirt, it will stain your teeth. Boo!

Don’t Smoke

As if another reason needed to be named for not smoking, but it, indeed, does stain your teeth in addition to having all sorts of horrible effects on your body. Just don’t smoke.

Brush and Floss

Again, this comes down to good hygiene. If whatever you eat or drink doesn’t stay on your teeth for long, it’s staining power will be lessened. Be sure to brush at least twice a day, and a good flossing routine gets out all of the gross stuff that the toothbrush misses. It’s a really practical way how to get a white smile at home, right?

Use a Good Toothpaste

Try to find a toothpaste that suits your needs and has a bit of whitening power to get rid of stains in between any treatments. Other common products include adding baking soda, vinegar, or hydrogen peroxide to your brushing routine, but be sure to treat these as toothpaste and avoid swallowing them.
