Basically, an engagement ring dish holder is meant to keep your ring safe when you aren’t wearing it. Otherwise known as a trinket dish or engagement ring holder, they can be both functional and beautiful.

Place a DIY ring holder near your sink—kitchen and bathroom—so you can wash hands and do dishes freely. You could also make a beautiful custom jewelry dish for bridesmaids’ gifts. In fact, these little cuties are SO easy to make that you’ll be crafting a lot.

How to Make an Engagement Ring Dish Holder

Supplies for a Dish Ring Holder

Sculpey clay in your choice of color (we used white and black)
Vintage pressed glass dish
Wide mason jar ring lid
Gold metallic acrylic paint
Paintbrush with bristles
Cutting board or another prepared surface

Supplies to Make a Custom Jewelry Dish

Instructions on Making a Mock Vintage Ring Holder Dish

Gather all of your supplies.
Open your clay, and use 2-3 bars of clay depending on the size of your jewelry dish.
Use your hands to roll the clay into a ball.
Flatten the ball with your hands, and press your clay to be 1/4″ thick. Aim for making a circular shape that is a little larger than your mason jar lid.
Use the jar lid to cut your clay into a perfect circle.

Polymer Clay Trinket Dish DIY

Take your vintage glass plate, and use it to press your circular clay flat.
Use pressure from your hands to make sure that the pattern transfers to the entire surface of the clay.
Carefully lift up the glass, and gently pull the clay away from it. If it breaks, just roll it back into a ball and start over!

DIY Vintage Ring Holder Dish from Polymer Clay

Lay your pressed circle in the smallest circle of the mason jar lid.
Bend the clay into a natural bowl shape trying to distribute the curves in a way that is pleasing to you.
Place the jar lid containing the clay onto a baking sheet. The lid will help the clay hold the bowl shape as it bakes.

Make a DIY Custom Jewelry Dish from Polymer Clay

Bake according to the Sculpey instructions on the package.
Do not overbake!
Allow the trinket dish to cool.
Once the jewelry dish is cool, dip your dry paintbrush into the gold paint.
Brush some of the paint off onto a scrap surface so that there isn’t much on the brush.
Dry brush your ring bowl, replenishing with paint as needed.
Allow to dry, and enjoy your lovely engagement ring holder dish!
