Are you planning on saying “I do” during the holidays? What a great present for you and your future spouse to give each other – the gift of a lifetime together. It’s a busy time of year even without planning a wedding, but just imagine getting married at Christmas. There is a magic to the season. Add in love, and it is perfect! But there are ways to plan ahead for a successful holiday wedding, and here are a few tips.

Plan Well Ahead of Time
As with any wedding, you need to give family and friends plenty of notice to ensure that they can be a part of your big day. Sending out save the dates 6-8 months ahead of time is a good idea. We all tend to make holiday plans well in advance, so letting your guests know that a Christmas wedding is in the works will aid in their end of the year plans.
Consider the Décor of the Wedding Venue
Getting married at Christmas in a church? Many hotel and church venues are already decorated around the holidays, so knowing what will be in place when you get married is key when you are considering your wedding décor. Don’t feel as though you are limited to red and green, either. Pondering colors such as silver, white, or gold won’t clash with already existing décor. Also, be sure to book your venue well in advance as many are booked a year in advance for Christmas parties and possibly longer for holiday weddings.
Incorporate the Holidays into Your Look
Of course, your friends want to be a part of your big day! Finding gorgeous bridesmaid dresses is a must, yet incorporating sparkly jewelry and a faux fur wrap add to the element of the season. For the bride, a colorful wrap or blanket scarf would make a statement…especially when having photos inside!
Utilize Fresh Greens
Evergreen plants, holly, and pine cones can be used in arrangements and floral crowns. Not to be overdone, these holiday-themed natural elements can be combined with traditional flowers such as roses and anemones to soften the look while just giving a hint to the Christmas season.
Have Decor Nod to the Holidays
We all love seeing presents under the Christmas tree, so how fun would it be for your guests to put their wedding gifts under a live tree? It’s a perfect idea if you are getting married at Christmas! White lights add to the holiday feel, and they can be utilized in so many ways to liven up a space.
Warm Up Your Guests
Instead of a traditional bar, why not have two signature drinks? A “his” drink of warm mulled wine or spiked apple cider would be perfect when offered alongside a “hers” option of an adult hot chocolate topped with whipped cream. What a treat around Christmas time!
