Should you use timeless wedding trends?
If you’re interested in trends, I want to preface by saying – you do you. No matter the year, the trends, or what anyone else says, be sure you and your sweetie are happy and in love with the elements of your day. Of course, that’s why our timeless wedding trends are perfect, as they stand the test of time.
8 Timeless Wedding Trends
1. Add color in unexpected ways.
Even if your passion is neutrals, consider adding pops of color in unique places. A colorful engagement ring, statement wedding invitations, and stunning florals will all work.
Even the guys can get in on the fun by wearing navy blue suits or ties with hints of color.

2. Let your flowers do the talking.
When considering your flowers, they have a significant impact on your day. Darker color palettes are striking, so think rich hues or jewel tones that blend well together or are monochromatic in nature.
When seeking unique placement, hanging floral installations are high-impact (no pun intended!) and significantly enhance a space. They offer color, interest, scent, and can also make an ample space feel more intimate.
Locally grown flowers are a big hit, especially because you can choose in-season flowers, which tend to be more economical. Think beyond the stem to blooms that grow on trees and bushes. Even dogwood, Virginia’s state flower, can be a beautiful touch.

3. Choose double-duty elements.
When picking decor and accessories, one of the most timeless wedding trends is using double-duty elements. If you are purchasing something specific for your wedding, consider its use beyond the big day.
A guest book alternative is always lovely, as mine has been put away for 23 years! A wooden initial can serve as both a monogram for your new home and a memento from your special day. Lovely!
Instead of using a “welcome to our wedding day” sign, why not try something different with this reusable wedding day signage? It doesn’t limit itself to use only on the wedding day, and it would look beautiful in your new home.
I adore it when a place card doubles as a wedding favor. Each of your guests would be delighted to see their name engraved in wood in a take-home keepsake. So pretty!

4. Consider a smaller event.
Is your guest list overwhelming? Does the thought of having all 12 of your best friends in your wedding make you shy away? Well, enter the timeless wedding trend of “it’s ok to do it small” – what a relief!
From truly curated guest lists to having just a few bridesmaids, more intimate weddings are taking center stage. Or have a wedding after party. An extra event may seem a bit daunting. However, imagine heading off to an evening of fun with a select few after you exit your wedding. Sounds fun!

5. Have a destination wedding.
Would you believe that I know someone who plans weddings for a living who decided to whisk everyone away for a small, intimate coastal event? And guess what – it’s perfectly ok to do that!
Planning a getaway with a few family members and close friends in a memorable location is one of the timeless wedding trends that is taking off like a storm. Finances can be invested in travel and experiences. What a fun idea!

6. Create an experience for your guests.
Yes, a destination wedding will definitely be an experience all attendees will remember. However, for those getting married close to home, you can still craft an experiential event.
The central focus of this wedding trend is to consider how your guests will feel. Play lawn games, rent kayaks by the water, and have a pizza buffet. Make it a fun and memorable event.

7. Be extra, but just a little bit.
If you love something, take it in a new direction or go the extra mile. But curate what you are putting additional effort into so that your event isn’t overdone. A quirky dessert table is a fun way to take a different approach to a cake.
Ditch the white candles and use color to add a bit of flair to your space. What a subtle, impactful way to make a positive, fun change in something oh so simple.
Also, textured table linens are a way to add a special touch. Notice the light lace below, but really there are endless color and pattern options!

One of the best ways to have a timeless wedding is to be yourself and create a truly special day. Don’t try to be someone else or mimic others. A day that reflects you as a couple is the best way to love your images for years to come.
