Engagement season is upon us, which means that you may be expecting a ring. Yay!! The anticipation is exciting, yet what’s next? We have the answers! Here are 11 things to do after you get engaged.
11 Things to Do After You Get Engaged
1. Narrow down your wedding date or season.
Talk with your fiance and find out when you both want to get married. As a result, this can help you figure out how long to plan your wedding and what you need to start doing now.
2. Start gathering wedding inspiration
Once you have a rough idea of the big day’s date or season, start to gather inspiration from your wedding day. This will help you and your vendors plan the perfect special day.
3. Splurge for a manicure after you get engaged.
During the first few weeks or months of your engagement, everyone you meet who hears about your proposal will want to see the ring. Consequently, even a natural nail look will still make your new engagement ring pop!
4. Get your ring insured post-proposal.
Insurance isn’t sexy. Plus, it may not be the most pleasant thing to think about. However, rings do disappear from time to time. Therefore, protect it in case something happens!
If your partner didn’t already get insurance on the ring, take a look at your options. You may want to have some insurance in case you lose a stone or lose the ring altogether. This is probably one of the first things to do after you get engaged as a preventative measure!
5. Start researching wedding venues.
Your wedding venue should be one of the first places you start when looking at wedding planning. Unless you have an idea of where you want to get married, you may need to visit many venues before finding the perfect one. Therefore, start booking and planning those trips now.
6. Plan an engagement party or celebration.
Before the craziness of all that wedding planning sets in, take some time to enjoy your engagement. Therefore, head to your favorite bar with friends for a celebratory drink, or consider planning an engagement party to celebrate.
7. Make an announcement after you get engaged.
Share the happy news with your family, friends who are like family, and everyone else! When you’re ready to share, make sure you start by personally reaching out to the people most important to you first. As a result, you don’t want your family to hear about it from social media before they hear it from you. Yikes!
8. Take engagement photos.
You want to remember this moment for a lifetime. Additionally, these photos are also great options for save the dates and wedding invitations. If you don’t already have some pictures from when you popped the question, hire a photographer and book some engagement photos.
9. Set aside time to plan your wedding day!
A lot can be done before your big day between engagement and wedding planning. But, it’s not like you can pause your other responsibilities, either. Therefore, set aside time to plan your wedding, whether it be time to go over venues or guest lists.
10. Resize your ring soon after the proposal.
Unless your partner knew your ring size perfectly ahead of time, you might need to get that ring resized to make it fit perfectly. Consequently, the last thing you want is it falling off or cutting off circulation in your finger.
11. Buy a ring holder after getting engaged.
While wearing your ring everywhere, you won’t really wear it everywhere. Therefore, you should take your ring off when you shower, go to the beach, and other places where you could lose it As a result, save yourself the headache and get a safe place to store your ring when you’re not wearing it.
